Cannabis Accessory Design: How Startups, Designers & Makers are Redefining the Experience

Contemporary designers are developing innovative ways to consume, store, and present cannabis, through sleek aesthetics to more functional approaches. Following we present luxurious marijuana smoking pipes, sleek trays and containers, and more creative designs by startups, artists and makers – as well as actor Seth Rogen.

Crystal Ball Pipe by Sackville & Co.

The female led design forward accessories brand known as Sackville & Co.  The founders, Lana Van Brunt and Hayley Dineen started in the art and fashion world before starting Sackville & Co.  Their brand of cannabis objects are both functional and design-focused, many doubling as home decor. The two launched the Crystal Ball Pipe in 2020 and it has been their most popular piece.  The pipe is an elevated cannabis collectable and statement piece for the home. It features an orb shaped smoking vessel and a base for holding the sphere when not in use. The Crystal Ball Pipe is available in four colors and is constructed of a premium borosilicate glass, which is known for its durability and ability to withstand high temperatures.

Houseplant by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg

Actor Seth Rogen and film producer Evan Goldberg have joined together and launched the cannabis brand Houseplant. Based in their native Canada, they sell one-of-a-kind cannabis accessories and objects based on their love and passion for cannabis and design.

Houseplant recently expanded its offerings with a series of household objects to complement the cannabis smoking experience. This collection includes a marble lamp and a clay ashtray set designed by Rogen to ‘evoke a sense of nostalgia while sliding seamlessly into a modern lifestyle’. The collection set is the result of Rogen’s love for ceramics. The ashtray features a deep well (to avoid ashes flying away), a generous notch and a compartment to hold additional cannabis accessories.

Laundry Day

Laundry Day was launched in 2018 by creative maker & artist Vic Ashley. Vic wanted ‘to change the visual narrative behind cannabis use and normalize smokeware via thoughtful, modern design’. The brand currently offers a range of smoking accessories, from glass and ceramic pipes to bold trays and colorful lighters.

Ashley noticed that her sleek design pieces were being bought to use as home decor, even by non-smokers. This prompted her to add a homeware goods line including vessels and candles, with the plan to expand into furniture and interior design in the future.
