5 Characteristic Traits Of Emerging Women In The Cannabis Industry

We were recently featured in the Cannabis Marketing Association, writing a blog post all about how to target your marketing in the cannabis industry to reach women.
With the cannabis legalization in the past decades, we have seen a tremendous growth in the cannabis space. Many women entrepreneurs have joined this movement of legal marijuana business, launching their own cannabis companies. We have helped many different female-owned marijuana businesses, but we think there are still a lot of grey area, and we want to help you understand why this movement is significant, especially to the start-up led by women entrepreneurs. Let us walk you through the process and help you develop your own marketing strategy.

1. No, I will not “Rosé All Day,” thank you very much.

New mothers and women in general are always under the radar of the big alcohol companies. You need to take a sip to survive the day, it’s time to take a break from your work, parenting, you name it, you deserve a glass or bottle of Rose. These companies have their eyes locked on women, but it turns out that we are hearing more of the opposite, women are strong enough to survive the day without the need of drinking a mimosa with breakfast, a wine spritzer at lunch or a bottle of wine in the evening.

What do these women do now by not falling in to the “Rosé All Day” trap? They are starting up their own cannabis infused beverage business filled with miraculous ingredients that will keep you sane and feeling fulfilled all day long. We are seeing these women launching cannabis brands like CBD infused spritzers or THC infused juices. They are realizing if their dream drink isn’t on the shelf, they will launch their own line and put it there themselves.

2. Autoimmune Disease leaving us feeling blah

Did you know 78% of all people with autoimmune disease are women? Your body mistakenly attacks its own cells instead of the invaders. People with this disease are suffering, bad, and the traditional medication didn’t help, leaving them hopeless. Some of these women have decided to launch their own Cannabidiol CBD products to help provide pain relief from the symptom including Rheumatoid Arthritis and the powerful anti-inflammatory qualities that cannabis products possess. These women are telling us that they are tired of expensive prescribed pain relievers and looking to get their life back, leading them to launch their amazing CBD products that help with the autoimmune diseases.

3. Edibles, it’s where its at

Edibles such as gummies, chocolate infused cannabis, cookies, or twizzlers are gaining support with women in cannabis. We are seeing more and more mothers opening up about their preference in taking edibles over smoking a joint. It’s super simple, they are aware of the social stigma and they do not want their kids to see them smoke anyway. We also heard mothers talk about even though it is legal, smoking a joint still makes them feel anxious at the thought of the DHHS being alerted and their children being taken away from them. Edibles make it less obvious and easier to be consumed discreetly. We have clients who launch their own THC infused honey brands for your tea and even refreshing THC infused lemonade while you are enjoying the hot summer. These women launch their own companies that reflect their own values which shine through in their products.

4. Is it hot in here, or is it me?

The sudden feeling heat that seems to come from nowhere, spreading through my body, leaving you wondering… Is this menopause? In case you wonder, THC helps lowering your body temperature, as well as reducing insomnia due to menopause. Some women take advantage of these amazing benefits and launch their own line of products to help other women, just like themselves, find relief from this transition in their life. We have some clients who have launched their own THC-infused tea to sip and enjoy the evening. These teas are also infused with herbs such as the Black Cohosh and Valerian root. Both are great to help you relax from sudden hot flushes. Some of our clients also launch THC-infused seltzers that are perfect for a quick refresh. These women felt desperate as no solutions were available, so they took the matter in their own hand and launch their own products to help other women. This makes us feel very lucky to have these women as our clients.

5. Truth or D.A.R.E

Just like many other women we have chatted with; we too are children of the D.A.R.E era where we were taught all about drugs. We were told that drugs were bad, and marijuana is a gateway drug that will throw you in an infinite downward spiral that your brain ended up as an egg being cracked in a frying pan metaphor. These women are warned from the side effects of cannabis usage and could quickly judge others who consumed it. But for some, their life just took them down a path that led them to try out cannabis for the first time. They quickly realized they have been swindled for years with false assumptions that they were taught in middle school. Those women are excited to share their experience with other women about the world of cannabis and women who would have avoided the god’s plant altogether in fear that their life would lead into a Dazed and Confused dream world.

The tide has turned with so much entrepreneurial spirit out there, we are excited to see more and more women to come with new products and businesses in the cannabis industry.
